How to Create a Water Playground for Small Children
Creating a water playground for small children will take a little planning. Nevertheless, once the water playground is in place, it provides hours of fun, entertainment and exercise and it delights children for many years. A little water makes any playground appealing during the hottest months of summer. Here are some steps on how to create a water playground for small children.
- Step1
Plan a location for each water activity. Smooth and level any areas of the yard that are not level. Make sure there are no small rocks or pebbles where each water activity will be.
- Step2
Fill a plastic kiddie pool with water. The water should not be deeper than six inches. If your children are smaller, the water level should be shallower. Toddlers around 3 or 4 years old may be able to handle water up to 12 inches deep. Blow up floating animal toys and place them inside the kiddie pool.
- Step3
Position a plastic slide so the bottom of the slide sits inside the kiddie pool. Children will have a blast sliding into the kiddie pool.
- Step4
Place a sprinkler in an area away from the pool where children can run around without falling into the kiddie pool. Connect the water hose to the sprinkler and turn it on for hours of wet, sprinkling fun.
- Step5
Determine where to place a two-sided activity table. Fill one side with playground sand and the other side with water. Add sand and water toys for hours of fun.
- Step6
Locate an area away from all of the water activities and turn on a battery operated bubble machine. This fills your backyard with thousands of bubbles and small children love chasing after bubbles.
